AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- Emily Ciccone has withdrawn her candidacy for Austintown Trustee just a month shy of the upcoming election in light of a domestic violence charge that was recently filed against her.
In an Oct. 3 letter addressed to the Mahoning County Board of Elections, Ciccone stated that she believes stepping down from the race is the most "responsible" course of action, taking into account "personal, professional, and other relevant factors."
Ciccone was arrested Sept. 25 on a charge of domestic violence. The police report from the incident states Ciccone was involved in an altercation with a man, identified as her husband Michael Ciccone, which she claimed was mostly verbal, but left him bleeding. A visiting judge will hear the case due to potential conflicts of interest.
