WASHINGTONVILLE, Ohio (WKBN) - A small village along the Mahoning-Columbiana County line has an important issue on the ballot. Washingtonville has a levy to generate extra money for the police department.

The levy will help the department from losing any more officers, and keep the ones who want to work there. Police protection in Washingtonville is part-time, which serves 700 people around the clock. "The majority of the residents, they like us here, we do hear feedback that they think we're doing a good job," said Chief Ken Faust.

Chief Faust is also one of the department's four officers. They're all part-time. The majority of them make $18 an hour and work 32 hours a week. A levy on the November ballot would raise money for the department, and one key provision is to raise pay. "Well,
