Mark Womack, the longtime Executive Associate Commissioner of the SEC and a mainstay in the conference office for nearly five decades, died Monday, the league office announced. He was 70.
Womack was also the SEC’s Chief Financial Officer, and was part of the conference’s inner circle under five different commissioners. Among many other duties, he was in charge of putting together the SEC’s increasingly complicated football schedule and worked closely with the league’s various bowl and television partners.
