A 30-year-old man pleaded guilty to his part in a 2017 homicide by entering a plea deal today, the same day his jury trial was set to begin.
Fargo M. Bennett of Fort Wayne was initially charged last year with murder for the death of 27-year-old Jason L. Underwood, who died of gunshot wounds Aug. 13, 2017.
Bennett has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder, a top-level felony that carries a possible sentence of 20 to 40 years in prison. The plea agreement includes that Bennett would be sentenced to 30 years in prison if the agreement is accepted by an Allen Superior Court judge.
The murder charge and a sentencing enhancement for using a gun would be dismissed.
