More than 700 rural Electrical District No. 3 customers lost power south of Maricopa late this morning.

Residents in Hidden Valley and Thunderbird Farms began reporting outages at 11:35 a.m. ED3’s website showed 711 homes affected. Eighteen customers in the city and 10 in Stanfield also lost power.

The Maricopa-based utility has not yet identified the cause. Crews are working to locate and fix the issue, which knocked out power along Miller and Barnes Roads from Sage Street to Amarillo Valley Road.

Marcus Hughes of Hidden Valley wrote on Nextdoor that he saw electrical work on Warren Road just before Val Vista Road.

Company representatives were not immediately available for comment when reached by phone. The outage was ongoing at 1 p.m., with 416 customers still in the dark.
