UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV) -- After another stretch of dry weather, Central New York is finally getting a good soaking tonight! A front moving through the region will bring steady rain and even a few isolated thunderstorms, with most places picking up between half an inch and an inch and a half of rainfall. Some spots, especially near the Tug Hill Plateau or under heavier downpours, could see even more. The rain will be steadiest overnight and taper off by early Wednesday morning, though a few lake-effect showers may linger near and west of Utica into midday.

While this rain will definitely help ease the dry conditions, it won’t be enough to completely erase the drought that’s been building. Still, it’s a welcome change—especially before a cooler, more typical October pattern settles in midw
