Three men who police allege were about to carry out a gangland hit near a daycare centre have been arrested by tactical officers who swooped on two cars along a busy road in Sydney’s south-west on Tuesday afternoon.

Police allegedly seized multiple firearms and jerry cans containing fuel from the two vehicles, which were left peppered with bullet holes, after the tactical operation at about 3.40pm in Revesby.

The two vehicles were stopped after detectives at Condell Park identified three men – Greall Tighe, 18, Kevin Mundine, 19, and Tyrone Tuiluga Rio, 26 – allegedly preparing an organised crime hit on another man near a daycare centre.

Police intercepted the two vehicles on The River Road, the main artery of Revesby.
