ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - A ribbon-cutting was held Tuesday for the opening of a new substance abuse treatment center in Roanoke.

The goal of the H.E.M.I. House Substance Abuse Treatment Center is to provide hope, encouragement, mentorship, and impactful resources to people in need.

CEO Bryan Thornhill said this center is just the beginning of a recovery empire he aims to build.

“I truly wanted to be the change. So I literally put the work in and my money where my mouth is, and I’ve been working really hard on this for about a year and a half total. And so I’m truly thankful and blessed that we’re at this stage,” said Thornhill.

Helping Everyone Make Improvements is what Thornhill said is not only what the acronym stands for, but the goal of the treatment center.
