COLUMBIA, S.C. — A man accused in an April crash that claimed the life of a University of South Carolina student has pleaded guilty and been sentenced, with deportation possible upon his release.
The South Carolina Attorney General's Office said 24-year-old Rosali Fernandez-Cruz pleaded guilty to the most serious charge against him and was sentenced to one year with credit for time served for the hit-and-run crash that killed 21-year-old Nathanial "Nate" Baker of Glen Allen, Virginia.
The crash occurred around 2 p.m. on April 2 at the intersection of Blossom and Assembly streets, near the University of South Carolina campus.
