NORTH BETHESDA, Md. (DC News Now) — Oct. 7, 2025, marks the second anniversary of the Hamas attack in Israel.

Jewish communities around the DMV and the world are remembering the lives lost.

The anniversary comes as Israel and Hamas meet in Egypt to discuss a peace plan for Gaza after President Donald Trump laid out his plan.

Meanwhile, communities in Israel, Gaza and the U.S. reflect on the anniversary that sent Israel and Hamas to war—killing countless lives on both sides.

“It’s a hard day for all of us, but when you look at the history of our people—we are very good at turning trauma into renewal,” said Israeli Chen Shamir.
