The Bengals upgraded their quarterback room on Tuesday, trading a fifth-round pick to the Browns for veteran Joe Flacco .

Before turning to a division rival for their quarterback solution, Cincinnati wasn’t even interested in a couple of backups currently in New York.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic , the Bengals never called the Giants about either Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston before trading for Flacco.

After Wilson was benched following the Week 3 loss to the Chiefs’ he and Winston are both behind rookie Jaxson Dart on the Giants’ depth chart.

The Giants signed Wilson, 36, this offseason on a one-year, $10.5 million deal to be their starter. That, of course, didn’t work out as the Giants opened up their season with an 0-3 record and no choice but to shake things
