NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Homicide detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department are investigating a 74-year-old woman's death as a murder.

According to the MNPD, Harriet Edwards was found dead just after 9 a.m. on Monday inside her home — where she lived alone — on Chateau Valley Court after a longtime friend hadn't heard form her in several days.

A neighbor told investigators she last saw Edwards on Friday, Oct. 3, according to the MNPD.

Police said that detectives believe Edwards was murdered between 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 after reviewing entries in a medical ledger she kept. An autopsy Tuesday revealed Edwards' cause of death was strangulation. She also appeared to receive blunt force injuries to her head.
