The Warren County School Board has asked the Board of Supervisors to come to the table to talk about meals tax money — revenue guaranteed in a referendum passed by voters in 2003.

Chairwoman Kristen J. Pence, Vice Chairwoman Antoinette D. Funk and members Andrea M. Lo, Thomas A. McFadden Jr. and Melanie C. Salins voted on Wednesday to adopt a resolution to request that the Board of Supervisors discuss with members the meals tax due to concerns about how to pay for capital improvement projects and maintenance of schools.

The resolution cites the referendum approved by voters in 2003 to implement a meals tax in the county for the sole purpose of supporting school facilities. The resolution notes that, however, the School Board was not directly involved in the discussions, negotiations, or
