SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A party advertised as family fun and kid-friendly took a tragic turn when shots rang out at A.B. Palmer Park.

Online flyers indicated a party guarded with a heavy police presence would take place tonight at A.B Palmer Park; however, around 7 p.m., the family function that boasted free food and entertainment had more than 15 emergency units dispatched after reports of shots fired.

At this time, one teen has been reported dead.

The event was taking place as the rest of the city was celebrating National Night Out.

Although the flyer displayed the official emblem, it has not been confirmed if the event was officially registered.

No further details have been released at this time.

This is a developing story.
