NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, working with local and federal partners, has issued a public safety alert about the emergence of “green fentanyl” on the Northshore and in the Greater New Orleans area.

Authorities say the drug, seized in recent investigations across the region, poses a significant and immediate threat to public health and safety.
This new form of fentanyl varies in shades of green and has the consistency of sidewalk chalk, gel or a tar-like form. Law enforcement warns that it can be easily mistaken for cannabis or other less potent drugs.
