GOODFIELD, Ill. (WMBD) -- A person is dead after a motorcycle crash near State Route 117 and Timberline Road on Tuesday.

Woodford County sheriff's deputies initially responded to the crash involving a motorcycle and a black Chevrolet around 5:57 p.m., Chief Deputy Dennis Tipsword said.

Both vehicles were headed north on State Route 117 when the motorcycle was slowing to turn onto Timberline Road. Before the motorcycle could turn, it was struck from behind by the Chevrolet.

The motorcycle driver was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene, Tipsword said. The driver's identity is being withheld while the family is being contacted.

The driver of the Chevrolet has been issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, Tipsword said.
