A 51-inch live oak tree in Kyle will be moved to accommodate a road project this fall, and the city is taking steps to preserve it.
In February, Kyle City Council voted 6-1 to relocate the tree near Old Stagecoach Road to make way for the voter-approved road bond project that involved widening the road to four lanes, according to previous reporting by Community Impact .
The project
This project will widen and reconstruct Old Stagecoach Road and a portion of Center Street to make it a continuous four-lane roadway from FM 150 at FM 2770 to FM 150 at Center Street, a news release from the city of Kyle states.
Work will be completed in three parts:
North portion of Old Stagecoach Road: FM 2770 to Six Creeks Boulevard
Old Stagecoach Road: Six Creeks Boulevard to Center Street
