(Meade County, SD) — The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly vehicle accident in Summerset late last week. Troopers say a Sturgis man was involved in the single-vehicle incident when he was traveling westbound on Sturgis Road near Freedom Lane. The man reportedly left the roadway and struck a road sign, and continued into a ditch before hitting a telephone pole. First responders transported the man to a Rapid City hospital, where he died from his injuries. The name of the victim has not been released at this time as investigators determine what led up to the fatal accident.
