CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – An overnight fire in southwest Cedar Rapids has sent one person to the hospital.
Around 2:43 am Wednesday, the Cedar Rapids Fire Department (CRFD) was called to the 3700 block of 16 th Avenue SW. Firefighters say they got to the scene to see heavy flames consuming three sides of a manufactured home.
Three adult males in the home had managed to escape. CRFD says one 50-year-old male had to be taken to University of Iowa Hospital for treatment.
CRFD says the home sustained heavy smoke and fire damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Cedar Rapids Police Department, Alliant Energy, MidAmerican Energy, and Area Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
