WASHINGTON, D.C. [KWWL] — President Trump announced his administration's efforts to support millions of Americans needing food assistance.

In a social media post, his press secretary stated that Trump intends to use funds generated by trade tariffs to support the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), which aids new mothers, pregnant women, and young children.

However, the tariff revenue is currently frozen until Congress reopens the government. Leaders can bypass this by passing a measure to allocate tariff revenue for a specific purpose.
