The BJP has come out all guns blazing at the Congress-led Karnataka government a day after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced an extension of the ongoing Social and Educational Survey , causing government schools to stay shut for almost a month. BJP Mysore MP Yaduveer Wadiyar said the state government’s move has put a section of students in a “clear disadvantage”, and that the survey is a waste of public money, held to please egos and serve vested interests.

On Tuesday, Siddaramaiah said that while some districts such as Koppal had completed 97 per cent of the work, others like Dakshina Kannada and Udupi had achieved only around 60 per cent. The survey, which began on September 22 and was scheduled to conclude on October 7, will now continue till October 18.
