Caught in a traffic jam on his way to his next job during a busy Wednesday, a pest control expert working in the UK's most rat-infested area shares his insights into the rodent-dominated landscape.
The main issue, says Mick Muldoon from Pestforce, is the dramatic transformation of the British high street. Where once there was a cobbler's shop, now stands a takeaway, and where bookshops used to be, high-street coffee chains have taken over.
This means more food establishments lining our streets, leading to an increase in food waste in back alleys, which in turn attracts more rats . However, there are steps we can take to stop them invading our properties.
Mick operates across North London - including Camden, the UK's worst-hit district. He says it's now common to see 40 rats gathering
