An Atlantic City man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl in exchange for marijuana was ordered held in jail until trial Wednesday.
David Roary, 41, is charged with aggravated sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, endangering the welfare of a child and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Police met with the victim Sept. 29 and learned Roary allegedly assaulted her once when she was 12 and twice after she turned 13, Assistant Prosecutor Elizabeth White said.
Text messages between Roary and the victim showed a sexual relationship started July 25, and Roary had cautioned the girl to “not leave her phone around” and to put a girl’s name instead of his on her phone so “no one will know it was him,” White said.
