MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman has been formally charged with fleeing the scene of a deadly hit-and-run in Muskegon Heights on Monday night.
Shauntelle Blackmon, 23, was arraigned Tuesday on a felony count of failure to stop at the scene of a serious personal injury crash, court records show.
According to the Muskegon Heights Police Department, 48-year-old Mecca Orr was found by authorities around 7:40 p.m. Monday after being hit by a vehicle while riding in a motorized wheelchair on Hackley Avenue. Orr was taken to the hospital, where she died.
Police say that investigators on the scene got a description of the car that hit Orr. Officers followed the vehicle “for a significant distance” before they lost it.
