SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A teen was fatally injured in a shooting during what was supposed to be a family-friendly community event, and Shreveport City Councilman Alan Jackson shared how this incident has scarred the community he represents.
A block party promoted as a kid-friendly event at A. B. Palmer Park in Cedar Grove was an opportunity for neighbors to get to know one another through food and fun times, until police said two suspects fired shots at one another inside the park.
"I was on site and saw firsthand how quickly violence can dismantle the spirit of a community. What should have been a moment of connection and joy turned into heartbreak and fear. This cannot become the norm for our neighborhoods," Jackson shared in his message.
