ALBERT LEA, Minn. — Police Sgt. David Miller has been named "Investigator of the Year" by the Minnesota Sex Crimes Investigators Association. This accolade recognizes his rigorous work on criminal sexual conduct cases. Assistant Freeborn County Attorney Abby Ehret nominated Miller, highlighting his dedication to pursuing criminal sexual conduct and child pornography cases. "Because of him, many predators are off the streets, and our community is a much safer place," Ehret said. The Albert Lea Police Department says Miller's meticulous efforts were evident in a case involving two young brothers and their mother's boyfriend. Despite an 8-year reporting delay, Miller's thorough investigation led to a successful prosecution, with the defendant receiving a 33-year sentence.
