NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Many Connecticut cities and towns are looking to make their Main Streets and downtowns more attractive and inviting to more people.
That’s what brought them to the Connecticut Main Street Center’s annual summit on “The Power of Place.”
In the heart of downtown New Haven, dozens of people spent the morning talking about what makes a good downtown. For one thing, it’s a cure for what ails society.
“People are lonely, they’re isolated, they don’t have places to connect, and if you don’t have those places, you don’t really have a city,” Fred Kent, who is credited with creating what’s called the placemaking movement, said.
“Placemaking can embrace a lot of activities that are intended to make a location inviting, exciting, creative and innovative,” explained Michel
