HORNBECK, La. (KPLC) - A child has died after a Monday afternoon crash near U.S. 171 in Hornbeck, officials said.

The child died in the hospital Tuesday, officials with the Sundown Fire Department said.

Multiple people were severely injured in the two-vehicle crash near Barham Road and 171, officials said. They were brought to a local hospital and then flown to a trauma center.

The Hornbeck Fire Department responded to the scene along with Anacoco, Sundown and Caney firefighters, Acadian and MedExpress ambulances, the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police Troop E.

KPLC has reached out to law enforcement for additional information about the crash and the identity of the victim.
