GLADEWATER, Texas — An East Texas woman was sentenced to 10 years' probation for a 2023 crash in Gladewater that killed her 24-year-old passenger and injured an infant.

Emerald Melanie Ramirez, of DeBerry, pleaded guilty on Sept. 11 to three charges, including intoxication manslaughter with vehicle, intoxication assault with a vehicle and driving with a child under 15 years old, according to the Gregg County judicial records.

On Sept. 29, she was sentenced to 10 years of probation for both the intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault. She was given five years of probation for the DWI, records show.

Her license is also suspended for about six months, according to judicial records.
