EUGENE, Ore. - The Eugene Police Property Crimes Unit is intensifying efforts to tackle a burglary series impacting the local Asian community, according to the Eugene Police Department.

EPD officials said that a recent burglary in the Bethel area on Oct. 6 is believed to be linked to this ongoing crime wave. Eugene police have assigned a detective to the latest case and are collaborating with law enforcement agencies. Investigators suspect a group of foreign nationals is responsible for about 21 burglaries in Eugene since late 2023, police said. Authorities said that Eugene police detectives have made successful past arrests and some of those arrested have subsequently been linked to similar crimes in other jurisdictions.
