A Nevada man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after investigators say he catfished a 15-year-old Littleton girl through Snapchat, picked her up in Colorado and sexually assaulted her multiple times.

Tyler Monson pretended to be a 16-year-old from Golden and exchanged nude photos with the girl in late December and early January, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada .

Monson sent the girl $2,000 over Venmo and they agreed to meet in person.

After telling the girl he was actually 27 years old, he showed her a loaded gun and refused to take her back home, according to an arrest affidavit.

Monson, who is from Winnemucca, Nevada, pleaded guilty to one count of transportation of a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.
