SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — For years there has been a battle over the future of an historic house in Sumner County.
Leaders were not able to get on the same page about its future. But there is new hope it could be preserved.
The Latimer House is back on track to go out for bid to an architect for renovations, according to Sumner County Commissioner Jeremy Mansfield.
Protecting the house and its historical significance to Sumner County has been Mansfield's mission. The house dates back hundreds of years, but has sat empty since its last owner, William Brown, died.
In his will, Brown gifted the land and the house that sits on it to the county, but there has been back-and-forth between Sumner County Schools and the Sumner County Commission as to what to do with the house.
