CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - An opportunity to be part of the mission to find a cure for Alzheimer’s returned to Cape Girardeau.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s was on Saturday, October 11 at Capaha Park.

There was an opening ceremony at 9 a.m., followed by the noncompetitive walk.

People could walk a half-mile around the pond, or continue the full mile around the park.

Participants were encouraged to wear purple in support of the cause. They could also carry Promise Garden Flowers, which come in different colors to represent the way Alzheimer’s has touched a person’s life.

All funds raised go to the Alzheimer’s Association .

So far, people joining the SEMO Walk have raised nearly $100,000.
