MASON — The Mason Fire Department opened its doors to the community this week, giving residents a chance to meet local first responders and learn about city services.
The open house allowed attendees to interact with personnel from police, fire and other city departments. Community members could ask questions and get an up-close look at what these departments do on a daily basis.
Fire Chief Kerry Minshall said the event has evolved over the years from its original focus.
“This originally started as the Fire Prevention Open House years ago, being the Fire Prevention Week, and we opened it up several years ago, inviting the other departments so they can show what they do too,” Minshall said.
The department plans to continue the tradition, with another open house scheduled for next year.
