STAMFORD, Conn. — A 39-year-old Bridgeport woman was sentenced to 15 years in prison Tuesday for trafficking minors for prostitution, but she will serve only six years behind bars under a plea agreement.

Teresa Martinez pleaded guilty in August to trafficking in persons and risk of injury to a minor in Stamford Superior Court. Judge Colleen Zingaro sentenced Martinez on Oct. 3 to 15 years in prison, with execution suspended after six years served, followed by five years of probation.

The sentence was more lenient than the state’s original plea offer of nine years in prison. Martinez received the reduced sentence in exchange for her guilty pleas.
