NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WFSB) - New Britain police are investigating after human remains were found in a large container behind an abandoned building.

Officers responded to an abandoned property at 80 Clark Street at around 1 p.m. after receiving a call reporting suspicious behavior.

When officers arrived, they found large container in the backyard area along the fence line. New Britain police say human remains were found inside the container.

“At that time a perimeter was set up around the property and contact was made with the New Britain State’s Attorney’s Office,” said Rachel Zaniewski, Communications Director, City of New Britain. “After obtaining a search warrant The CT State Police - Central District Major Crimes unit responded to assist.”
