RAVENNA, Ohio — Police say a Ravenna school crossing guard was injured after being hit by a car while on the job outside West Main Elementary School Wednesday morning.
According to a press release, the guard named Donna Croasmun was trying to help a child cross Main Street at the Diamond Street intersection when a vehicle approached eastbound and ran a red light. The car struck Croasmun and knocked her to the ground just after 8:45 a.m.
Croasmun was taken by ambulance to University Hospitals Portage Medical Center and treated there for non-life-threatening injuries. No students were in the crosswalk at the time of the collision, per authorities.
