AKRON, Ohio — Voters will decide this November who will help lead Akron Public Schools through a period of major transition and financial uncertainty.

Eight candidates are running for four open seats on the Akron Public Schools Board of Education. The group includes three incumbents and five newcomers — all hoping to convince voters they have the right vision to move the district forward.

The race comes as APS continues to recover from leadership turmoil. Former Superintendent Michael Robinson left the district in April after an investigation found he fostered a "toxic workplace culture" built around "fear."
