HUDSON, Mass. —

History was made Wednesday in the Hudson Police Department when they appointed their first-ever female detective.

The honor was given to Officer Heather Manning, who was selected to serve in the detective bureau.

Manning was lauded by the department for her professionalism and dedication to public service.

“I am proud and honored to announce Officer Manning’s appointment as our first female Detective," Chief Richard DiPersio said. "She is a highly valued member of this department, and both the department and the community are fortunate to have her serving in this capacity. I look forward to seeing her step into this new assignment and continue the outstanding work that has defined her career.”
