CHARLESTON — Meteorologists predict that heavy rainfall along with major high tides over a two-day period could result in dangerous conditions, prompting a coastal flood warning extending from 8 a.m. Oct.9 to 3 p.m. Oct. 10.

Those in coastal areas of Charleston and Colleton counties are likely to be impacted by flooding as rainfall coincides with morning high tide cycles — a combination that may bring about “major flood stage” levels, according to the National Weather Service .

Experts predict up to two feet of inundation above ground level.

The maximum high tide is expected to occur around 10 a.m. Oct. 9 , capping at around 8 feet above the average low water level.
