SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Mayor Tom Arceneaux formally announces his decision to run for re-election in 2026 at an event held along Texas Street in Downtown Shreveport.

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson was in attendance for the mayor's announcement along with other supporters.

Arceneaux says being the mayor and having so much support brings him so much joy.

"I'm in this for the long haul. I've enjoyed being the mayor. It's an honor to be the mayor. I want to continue, and I want to let people know really early on that I am intending to run again. As far as I'm concerned, the race starts today," says Arceneaux.

Arceneaux says the accomplishments of his administration during his time as mayor have built a bond and trust with the city.
