(WJW) - The Thursday morning commute saw major slowdowns in the Akron area due to an overturned semi-truck.

Just after 8 a.m., a semi crashed on State Route 8, closing all the southbound lanes, according to Stow police.

The crash shut down the highway near Steel Corners Road for about two hours. At times, delays in the area were reported at more than 50 minutes, according to OhGo. • OHGO • Stow police photo • Stow police photo • Stow police photo

At about 10 a.m., ODOT reported the highway reopened, but the right lane remained closed. About a half hour later, around 10:30 a.m., the highway was fully reopened.

There is no word on what caused the crash or if anyone was injured.

Drivers on State Route 8 north were slowed around the same time due to a crash at the Ohio Turnpike.
