MASON, Mich. (WILX) - A New York man will spend up to 20 years behind bars for allegedly exploiting a child in Ingham County.

Dominic Candelaria was sentenced this week to 7-to-20 years in a Michigan prison after being convicted of child sexually abusive activity and using a computer to commit a crime.

Candelaria, 27, was arrested and extradited from New York after a detective with the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office identified him as a suspect in an online child exploitation investigation.

The sheriff’s office says Candelaria was “found to be extorting children on social media platforms to obtain sexually explicit images and videos,” including from a 12-year-old child who lives in Ingham County.
