Norfolk officials are in the early stages of planning a new parking deck located near Harbor Park and City Hall in an effort to build back some of the spaces lost by construction of a long-planned casino.
On Tuesday, Norfolk City Council approved the use of a design-build procurement process for a planned parking deck that would replace a surface parking lot located at the intersection of East Street and East Main Street downtown.
Few details about the proposed deck are available at this point in the planning process. City spokesperson Kelly Straub said in an email that the scope and timeline for the project would be determined during the request for qualifications and request for proposals processes. Straub did not answer a question about how much the garage would cost.
