KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Emergency responders are used to rescue missions of all kinds. Whether it's water rescues, fire rescues or something else in that vein, crews are often sent to scenes that they have trained for throughout their careers.
But earlier this week, one south metro team was sent on a rescue mission that they probably haven't been called to many times before.
On Tuesday night, members of the South Metro Fire District in Raymore responded to Johnson Lake on reports of an owl caught in a fishing line.
When crews arrived on the scene, they reported finding the owl dangling over the water, entangled in the line.
They said the owl had seen the fishing lure, thought it was dinner and then got hooked. He then tried to free himself but got tangled up in the line and a nearby tree.
