HARTFORD, Conn. — A new city partnership with Google Public Sector will give more than 120,000 Hartford residents an opportunity to participate in local government in almost 80 languages.

Mayor Arunan Arulampalam announced Thursday that the collaboration with Google Public Sector will offer real-time translation services for public meetings and citizen inquiries.

The technology will enable real-time communication in dozens of languages during City Council and Board of Education meetings. This will ensure that non-English speaking and multilingual community members can fully understand and contribute to local government.
