This week is Fire Prevention Week, and this year's theme is Charge Into Fire Safety: Lithium-ion Batteries in Your Home.

Many modern everyday devices pose an increased risk of fire.

Lithium-ion battery fires are increasing nationwide due to demand in electronics such as e-bikes, smartphones and tablets.

Fairfield's assistant fire chief told us what to look out for.

"We've already had a couple fires this year, which were from batteries that were charging or on the charger and then had a thermal run away and then cause the house fire, so right now we're really recommending that you keep any batteries charging outside and then your typical fire safety. Make sure you're using the proper utensils, make sure you're using the safety storage fuel and proper locations and then the biggest thing
