HARTFORD, Conn. — Catholic education is returning to Hartford with a new academy slated for fall 2026.

Archbishop Christopher J. Coyne, joined by Valerie Marra, superintendent of Catholic schools for the archdiocese, made the announcement at a press conference Thursday in front of 765 Asylum Ave., which will be the home of the Catholic Academy of Hartford.

The city has not had a Catholic school since the closure of Saint Augustine School in 2016. Coyne said he made a promise upon becoming archbishop in 2024 to fill that void.
