KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — A new program in Kentwood is helping teens take their next step after residential treatment.
It’s part of Wedgwood Christian Services’ effort to prepare young people for life on their own with the support and stability they need to succeed.
On Thursday, Wedgwood unveiled Audere, a 10-bedroom, nearly 8,000-square-foot home that will help fill a major gap in Michigan's child welfare system.
“It’s a good day and I believe it’s a good day for boys and girls within Michigan’s child welfare system,” Daniel Gowdy, the president and CEO of Wedgwood Christian Services, said before cutting the ribbon. “The kids at Audere can take that seed of hope that was planted at Wedgwood and give it an opportunity to grow roots and ultimately to bear fruit of its own.”
