HIGH POINT, N.C. — Two women. Two counties. One suspect. Investigators say Ricky Lam now faces two separate first-degree murder charges spanning nearly a year of violence and investigation.

The case began when 31-year-old Nancy Bunly vanished from Lexington on September 22, 2024 . She lived with Lam at the time.

Three months later, deputies arrested three of Lam’s relatives — Van Lam , Vienchan Lam , and Jonathan Lam — on obstruction charges tied to Nancy’s disappearance. But Lam wasn’t charged then, and Nancy’s body was never found.

Nearly a year later, on October 2, 2025 , investigators formally charged Lam with first-degree murder in Nancy’s case, along with concealment of an unnatural death and conspiracy . He remains in custody in Davidson County.
